Ms. Baranova holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Lausanne, where she also studied social policy, sociology and anthropology, which makes her sensitive to the patient’s social registration. Passionate about psychoanalysis, she was introduced to it at the University, and continued her studies with the Swiss Psychoanalytic Society, and today with a post-graduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The vision of the patient to which this approach leads her is that of a singular subject whose individual and family history is considered essential to understand the origin of his or her disorders. This approach is non-directive, allowing the subject to associate freely with what comes to mind. It thus allows the expression and the accompaniment of painful affects conveyed by the memory of lived situations. The therapist is there to contain and allow the subject to give form and meaning to what he or she has been through and is going through. This approach also represents a relational experience where certain scenes can be replayed on the therapist-patient stage, this relationship being a tool in its own right in therapy. Ms. Baranova also trains in transference-focused therapy, a technique derived from the psychoanalytic approach and more specific to personality disorders. Finally, she sometimes also relies on the precepts of the Stoic philosophers (Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius, Seneca) which allow her to adopt a more serene view of reality.
